Ellen Ziaja, M.D.
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Ziaja completed her medical school education at Wayne State University and her radiation oncology residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. She was drawn to the field of radiation oncology by the mathematical and physics-based nature of the field, but more importantly by the rewards gained in caring for oncology patients. She prides herself in developing open, authentic relationships with her patients and families, and working with them to provide a personalized treatment plan tailored to the nuances of each individual case. She is a detailed problem solver, enjoying the challenges faced with all cancer types, who will walk through a patient’s course of treatment as a team.
Dr. Ziaja has served on many committees with Aurora’s Vince Lombardi Cancer Program, including the Breast Cancer and Thoracic Cancer Quality Advisory Board, the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer Advisory Board, and Aurora’s Research Steering Committee. She also serves as the Principal Investigator for the Radiation Oncology Research Trials for the system. In addition, she is the Chair of the Cancer Committee and the Radiation Oncology Medical Director at Aurora Summit Medical Center.
